Why does Social Security provide written and Internet content in Spanish?
  Question
Why does Social Security provide written and Internet content in Spanish?
  Answer

Because of our desire to improve our service to the public, including our non-English speaking population, the Social Security Administration provides many publications and Internet content in Spanish in addition to English. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the United States. In addition, it is the primary language used in Puerto Rico--a self-governing commonwealth of the United States. Further, several States border Mexico, also a Spanish-speaking country. We offer this service as a courtesy to our customers who pay into Social Security and do not speak the English language.
