Mission Support Administrator

The Mission Support Administrator position provides administrative services in support of the Agency's mission and comprises a variety of administrative duties and responsibilities. The positions are primarily located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

The principle role of a Mission Support Administrator is to provide support to a variety of tasks and requirements for general office and/or program support. Although specific responsibilities will vary depending upon the office of assignment, typical daily duties may include answering telephones, preparing and tracking office correspondence, completing time and attendance records, creating/organizing databases, inputting/extracting information from databases, responding to customer queries and greeting visitors, monitoring e-mail, maintaining calendars, proofreading and editing correspondence, arranging travel, and performing other ad hoc duties. These positions may also provide backup support to other mission support administrator positions.


Qualifications: Candidates must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to establish and maintain effective working relationships; basic skills in oral and written communications; and ability to conduct effective and efficient transactions with customers.

Must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion and work well independently and as a team member. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of officers including all levels of management. Must be flexible and possess good time management and organizational skills to work under short deadlines, juggle multiples tasks, and adjust to changing priorities and workloads

Basic knowledge of technology, office equipment, computer applications and software (MS Office), Internet and the computer environment as it pertains to the appropriate process and functions for storage and retrieval of records.

Testing Requirements : Candidates must pass the Agency's administrative examination and typing test (40wpm with no more than 5 errors)

Educational/Work Experience Requirements : High School diploma or GED, or equivalent. Three years of prior administrative or comparable experience, preferably in an office environment; applicable vocational education may be substituted for work experience.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
