Metro proposing changes to east I-90 bus service, including new commuter route for North Bend

King County Metro Transit is considering a series of bus service revisions along the Interstate 90 corridor east of Issaquah affecting residents of North Bend, Snoqualmie, Snoqualmie Ridge, Fall City, Preston, Duthie Hill, Klahanie, and North Issaquah.

The proposal would include direct service between North Bend, Snoqualmie, and Seattle on a new Route 215. In addition to the new route, the proposal would revise existing Metro routes: 209, 214, 922, and 929. Changes to Route 929 would bring more service to Carnation, Duvall, Redmond Ridge, and Redmond. Also, as proposed, service would be eliminated to Preston and the Route 922 would be discontinued.

The earliest these changes would begin is September 2008. More details are available on Metro Online.

Metro is seeking public input on the proposal. An open house to share information and gather comments will be held: Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Fall City Elementary School, 33314 SE 42nd St., Fall City

The deadline for comments is Friday, March 7. They will be collected at the meeting, or by one of the following methods:

·        Fill out an online questionnaire;

·        Send email;

·        Mail to: King County Department of Transportation, Community Relations, KSC-TR-0824, 201 S. Jackson St., Seattle, WA 98104;

·        Or, record a message at (206) 205-9185.

The new Route 215 service would be funded by the Transit Now initiative, a 10-year bus service expansion plan approved by King County voters in 2006.
