King County residents to get preview of new business and real estate opportunities at Seattle Southside Forum
KING COUNTY, WA - Everyone knows King County's Eastside is booming. But Seattle's Southside, while less well known, is also on the move. Later this month, the Seattle Southside Forum will introduce this growing area southwest of Seattle and highlight the real estate, business and development opportunities that are on the drawing board or in the planning stages for this area.
Seattle Southside includes the cities of Burien, Des Moines, Seatac and Tukwila. Like much of the region, the cities are seeing tremendous growth and are poised to capitalize on it with major mixed-use developments in the works over the next 10 to 15 years.
The Seattle Southside Forum will bring together several successful companies, real estate developers, and public officials to discuss current projects and future development opportunities in Southwest King County.
The event takes place at the Doubletree Hotel in SeaTac on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 from 7:30 am - 11:15 am, followed by a showcase tour from 11:15 am - 1:30 pm.
The mayors of Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Tukwila are schedule to attend, along with Port Commissioner Pat Davis. Event sponsors include Puget Sound Energy, Majestic Realty, and Urban Partners, LLC, the developer of the Burien Town Square, a mixed-use project in downtown Burien.
Dan Rosenfeld, founding principal of Urban Partners LLC, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the half-day forum, which is designed to highlight Seattle Southside's many opportunities for real estate brokers, investors, developers and business owners who may be looking for expansion possibilities. For example, Burien's new downtown, the Des Moines waterfront, SeaTac's hotels and restaurants, and Tukwila's growing Westfield Southcenter shopping mall are all part of the vibrant, fast growing communities that make up Seattle's Southside and that are attractive to businesses and potential residents alike.
"Seattle Southside cities have major mixed used developments in progress or planned over the next 10 to 15 years on large tracts of newly available land," said King County Executive Ron Sims. "They have quick, easy access to all major highways and Sea-Tac Airport for international business, plus the two Link Light Rail stations coming online soon in Tukwila and Seatac that will offer retail and mixed use development opportunities along with transportation initiatives to connect communities. This is a once or twice in a generation business and development opportunity for our region."
A Resource Gallery at the event will feature event sponsors from a range of industries as well as representatives from the cities of Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Tukwila, the Port of Seattle, King County, Highline Community College, the Southwest King County Chamber of Commerce, and enterpriseSeattle.
Following the Seattle Southside Forum, participants can also take part in a Showcase Tour of Seattle Southside real estate opportunities and development initiatives.
