![]() ![]() Feb. 20, 2008 Election results posted, includes an abundance of "no party" ballotsKing County Elections staff today added 50,475 additional ballots to the vote totals. Of this total, approximately 35,000 ballots represented ballots with no party oath selection and thus no votes for presidential candidate of either party. Votes for non-partisan ballot measures were counted. Unique to the presidential primary rules, voters were required to sign a political party oath in order for their vote for presidential candidates to count. Ballot envelopes missing an oath are categorized as “no party” ballots and inspected to make sure no votes for presidential candidates were marked.
King County Elections’ director Sherril Huff estimates 60,000 mail ballots are on hand and remain to count. This number does not include ballots still to be delivered by the United States Postal Service. Absentee ballots received in the mail each day will be posted online at 8 p.m. Learn more by visiting the absentee return statistics page at http://www.metrokc.gov/elections/abstats/. King County election results will be posted daily by 4:30 p.m. To view election results from the Feb. 19 election, visit http://www.metrokc.gov/elections/200802/results.asp. |
