LOCATION
The Winston-Salem Regional Office is the primary occupant of the Hiram H. Ward Federal Building and U. S. Courthouse which is located at 251 North Main Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Regional Office occupies six floors of the eight story building.

JURISDICTION
The Winston-Salem Regional Office provides benefits and services in all program areas to veterans, servicepersons and reservists residing in North Carolina. The RO is home of the National VA Home Loan Eligibility Center. The Eligibility Center in Winston-Salem processes critical home loan benefit eligibility determinations for veterans located throughout the United States and overseas. The Regional Office is also one of two Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) Program consolidated sites and processes BDD claims for the eastern half of the United States.

STATION SIZE
North Carolina ranks ninth in veteran population. Based on the number of employees, our office ranks 7th out of 58 regional offices in size.

According to recent Bureau of Census data, North Carolina's estimated veteran population is 792,646.

MILITARY BASES
There are six major military bases located in North Carolina - Ft. Bragg, Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station, New River Marine Corps Air Station, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and Pope Air Force Base. About 20% of the US Marine Corps and 10% of the US Army are stationed in North Carolina. Active duty personnel at these facilities add over 112,000 current and potential customers for benefits and services provided by the Winston-Salem Regional Office.
