  • Fisk University. Crystal growth, characterization, and evaluation of radiation-detection properties of chalcopyrites
  • Georgia Institute of Technology. Methodology for error compensation based on machine tool error and on-machine inspection
  • North Carolina State University. Metrology artifact design.
  • South Carolina State University. Mentor Protégé Agreement. Note: In support of the university’s establishment of a radiation-control training laboratory, Y‑12 loaned radiation-detection devices to SCSU, the only Historically Black College and University with a Nuclear Engineering Program.
  • Southern University. Slant bed lathe error budget.
  • Tennessee State University. Mentor Protégé Agreement.
  • Tuskegee University. Fracture toughness correlation with stress strain microprobe.
  • University of Florida. Surface location errors in high-speed machining.
  • University of Michigan. Technology development for a prototype high-accuracy, high-density, noncontact dimensional inspection system.
  • University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Evaluation of a commercial hole-plate artifact (for potential as a tool to estimate the uncertainty of measurements taken with coordinate measurement machines, or CMMs).
  • The University of Tennessee. Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC), Y‑12 partnership with the UT Institute for Public Service. The LEIC CAPTURE project provides “a means for law enforcement agencies to share their criminal records data via a secure records management database, housed at the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons facility.”

Y‑12 also partners with colleges and universities in its College Programs. Y‑12 projects benefit from student work, and students gain valuable experience, as well as the opportunity to establish relationships with internationally recognized professionals. To encourage students, especially minorities, to enter scientific fields, Y‑12 is proud to have been among community sponsors of the George Washington Carver Project in honoring Carver for his scientific and social contributions.
