“We are so grateful to USAID for this donation. With this tractor, we will be able to produce more than we were producing before. It will make our work more effective and we will be able to sell the surplus to the community.”
- Mario Fumero, Founder and President of Proyecto Victoria

Jose Gomez, who successfully completed drug rehabilitation treatment at Proyecto Victoria, now works as a volunteer at the Center. Proyecto Victoria, a residential center for drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation, is the only hope for many Hondurans addicted to drugs and alcohol. There are approximately sixty young men undergoing therapy at the Center at any given time. The residents work the land at the Center to grow crops used by its residents.

Due to lack of adequate equipment, the residents became accustomed to using their bare hands and rustic tools to prepare the land. USAID provided a brand new tractor and other agricultural equipment such as a plow to prepare the land, and a planter for a variety of tropical crops. This equipment is being used by the residents at Proyecto Victoria in activities that are part of their rehabilitation process and at the same time, will contribute to the sustainability of the project.
