NEW! Arctic report card.

NEW! Sunlight, water, and ice: Extreme Arctic sea ice melt during the summer of 2007.

The sea ice cover is undergoing significant climate-induced changes, affecting both its extent and thickness. It is important  to observe these changes to improve our understanding of the role of the sea ice cover in the global climate system and exploit the sensitivity of the sea ice cover as an early indicator of  climate change.
