A surge in growing income inequality?

Examination of a reported surge in income inequality in 1993 indicates that, despite changes in survey methodology, patterns of employment growth were consistent with greater income dispersion. This article explores the question of how much of the increase in income inequality between 1992 and 1993 was due to changes in the economy, and how much was due to technical changes in the Current Population Survey.
