National Geophysical Data Center WELL LOG DATA FOR OUTER CONTINENTAL SHELF LEASE SALE NO. 48Offshore Southern CaliforniaDownload OCS-CAL-78-164 No. 1 Data The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has recently released well logs and associated technical reports from the deep stratigraphic test well OCS-CAL-78-164 no. 1 to the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) for public dissemination. These data, from the Point Conception, California area, are now available from NGDC. The Point Conception well was drilled by Exploration Services, Inc., form October through December 1978 for a group of oil companies. The purpose of the well was to help evaluate the petroleum potential of the first lease from Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Lease Sale No. 48 (within 50 miles of the well). The well was drilled at 34°28'56.6"N latitude 120°47'00.0"W longitude in 1,428 ft (435 m) of water to a total depth of 10,571 ft (3,222 m) by the drilling unit GLOMAR ATLANTIC.
