MISSION:

The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is to conduct audits and investigations of U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) programs and operations. As set forth in the Inspector General Act of 1978, as amended, the Office of the Inspector General, is an independent and objective unit. The Inspector General reports to the Chairman.


FUNCTIONS:

  1. Determines policy and procedure for OIG operations.
  2. Conducts, supervises, and coordinates OIG audits, inspections and investigations of ITC programs and operations.
  3. Reviews legislation and regulations for impact on the economy and efficiency of ITC programs and operations.
  4. Recommends policies for and coordinates OIG activities with other agencies.
  5. Prepares statutory and non-statutory reports, including a semiannual report, to the Commission and to the Congress regarding fraud and other serious problems, abuses, and deficiencies in the administration of ITC programs and operations; recommends corrective action; and reports on progress in implementing such corrective actions.
