Christina Muedeking Walks a Mile in Iowa

Regional Assistant Chief ― Central Christina Muedeking was in Poweshiek County, Iowa, last week to participate in a Walk a Mile in My Boots exchange requested by Mark Kennett on his farm near Grinnell.

Christina and Mark visited Arbor Lake, which is an Environmental Protection Agency non-point source pollution 319 project in Grinnell; the Malcom field office; and a number of different fields that included no-till, strip-till, conventional-till and Conservation Reserve Program Highly Erodible Land converted to cropland.

Mark hosted a luncheon meeting with 20 producers, implement dealers, friends; representatives from Farm Service Agency; Cooperative Research, Education, and Extension Service; and the local field office that gave Christina an opportunity to learn the history of farming in this area and of the challenges farmers face.
