Members of the public are invited behind the scenes for a close-up look at the fascinating process of aircraft restoration at the U.S. Air Force Museum.

Participants on the Behind the Scenes Tour will walk through the Museum's Restoration area located in hangars on the historic Wright Field flight line in Area B of the base, about one mile from the main Museum building. Visitors will see a variety of aircraft, in varying stages of the restoration process.

Also on the tour, visitors will view the Exhibits area, where the dioramas and displays seen on the Museum floor get their start.

Interested individuals can now register for upcoming Behind the Scenes Tours, scheduled on the second Friday of each month: Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 12, April 9, and May 14. The tours are free and last from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Space is limited, so advance registration is required. Registered participants should meet in the Museum s Carney Auditorium between noon and 12:15 p.m. No group reservations are accepted.

Participants must be at least 12 years old, and an adult must accompany those between 12 and 18. The Museum will provide bus transportation to the hangars. For security reasons, all bags are subject to search and backpacks are not permitted on the shuttle bus.

It is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day). Admission and parking are free.
