JOB DESCRIPTION
Registered Dental Assistant
(RDA)
DEPARTMENT: Dental
SUPERVISOR: RDA Supervisor
SUPERVISES: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
The RDA will work directly under the supervision of the Administrative Manager providing dental treatment to the clinic patients. In addition, the RDA should be knowledgeable and sufficiently skilled in all phases of assistance as outlined below.
The RDA must communicate well and be able to establish rapport with patients and their families. He/she must be sensitive to the needs of the Indian community, its cultures, traditions, behavior patterns, and background. He/she must be familiar with the aims and objectives of the Program and express a genuine enthusiasm for its success. In addition, the RDA must be willing to learn new procedures and terminology consistent with current dental techniques and technology.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Be proficient in all phases of 4 handed dental assisting for endo, prostho, perio, oral surgery, and restorative procedures.
2. Be familiar with dental terminology, medication, and instruments used during the above procedures.
3. Be proficient in exposing, processing, and mounting routine diagnostic radiographs.
4. Perform expanded duties to the extent the law permits.
5. Perform such laboratory duties as making impression trays, pouring models, etc.
6. Clean and sterilizes instruments after treatment.
7. Provide preventive dental education to clinic patients.
8. Record findings of examination on patient records.
9. Maintain the supply inventory.
10. Maintain equipment.
11. Maintain clean and orderly operatories and laboratory.
12. Perform the above duties while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
13. Maintain currency through continuing education courses and meetings.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
1. Current RDA License.
2. Graduate from High School.
3. One (1) year experience as chair side assistant involved in the practice of Dentistry.
4. Current CPR certificate.
5. Current and in good standing; CDL, proof of vehicle insurance and DMV printout.
6. Indian Preference shall be given to the greatest extent possible.
