Upcoming Conference Providing Guidance On the New Requirements for Agency Annual FOIA Reports

On May 28, 2008, the Office of Information and Privacy (OIP) will host a training conference on the new requirements established for agency Annual FOIA Reports.

As a result of the recent amendments to the FOIA that are part of the OPEN Government Act of 2007, http://www.usdoj.gov/oip/amended-foia-redlined.pdf, agencies are now required to report a range of new information in their Annual FOIA Reports. In addition, OIP, in consultation with the Office of Management and Budget, has revised the content and format of the Report, including adding further reporting requirements, clarifying others, and defining the type of requests which should be included in the Report.

The conference will specifically address the “2008 Guidelines for Agency Preparation of Annual FOIA Reports,” which will be posted next week.

The details for this event are listed below:

When: May 28, 2008
Where: Department of Commerce’s Auditorium, 14th and Constitution Avenue NW (Main entrance on 14th Street)
Time: 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Who should attend: Agency Principal FOIA Contacts and Agency Personnel who prepare the Annual FOIA Report

Questions regarding the Conference may be directed to OIP’s Training Officer, Bertina Adams Cleveland, at (202) 514-1010.
