ITC VOTES TO CONTINUE CASES ON CERTAIN KITCHEN APPLIANCE SHELVING AND RACKS FROM CHINA

The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) today determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of certain kitchen appliance shelving and racks from China that are allegedly subsidized and sold in the United States at less than fair value.

Chairman Shara L. Aranoff, Vice Chairman Daniel R. Pearson, and Commissioners Charlotte R. Lane, Irving A. Williamson, and Dean A. Pinkert voted in the affirmative. Commissioner Deanna Tanner Okun did not participate in these investigations.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative determinations, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its countervailing and antidumping duty investigations of imports of these products from China, with its preliminary countervailing duty determination due on or about October 24, 2008, and its preliminary antidumping duty determination due on or about January 7, 2009.

The Commission's public report Certain Kitchen Appliance Shelving and Racks from China (Investigation Nos. 701-TA-458 and 731-TA-1154 (Preliminary), USITC Publication 4035, September 2008) will contain the views of the Commission and information developed during the investigations.

Copies of the report are expected to be available after October 14, 2008, by calling 202-205-2000 or from the Office of the Secretary, 500 E Street SW, Washington, DC 20436. Requests may also be faxed to 202-205-2104.
