Domestic Guest Researcher Program

Purpose

The Domestic Guest Researcher (DGR) Program provides access for technically qualified U.S. citizens to NIST facilities and equipment while working with NIST staff on projects of mutual interest. Research results are available to the public, because the DGR agreement does not provide for confidentiality of research results. If confidentiality of cooperative research results are desired a Cooperative R&D Agreement (CRADA) may be appropriate.

  Procedure

If you are interested in collaborating with NIST staff on research of mutual interest via a Guest Researcher Agreement, begin by contacting the appropriate NIST Division. Information on NIST research programs is available in the Guide to NIST.

If an appropriate opportunity is identified by you and the Division, a short description of the collaborative work to be performed is prepared and submitted by the Division, along with other relevant information, to the responsible Laboratory Director for approval.
