Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, a unit of the National Park Service, is located on the southern shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This place of beauty was authorized as the country's first national lakeshore in 1966 to preserve shoreline, cliffs, beaches, and dunes, and to provide an extraordinary place for recreation and discovery. As you can imagine, the area is rich in outdoor sporting activities: biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, hunting, and fishing.
