The Brookhaven IRS Campus is one of Suffolk County's largest employers. This year the IRS needs to fill over 100 part-time student positions. The majority of positions are clerical in nature. Duties include opening and sorting mail, and numbering and batching tax forms and related materials. A limited number of data entry positions are also available.

The IRS offers a competitive salary. Clerical positions range from $7.75 to $9.51 per hour; Data Transcriber positions $7.75 to $10.60 per hour. The majority of positions will be filled on a weekend shift (eight hours on both Saturday and Sunday) with several weekday positions also available. Seasonal employees work when their services are needed, usually during tax filing season. They are then placed into non-pay status, subject to recall as necessary.

Students who are currently attending high school or working towards a GED, vocational or technical certificate, or an associate, baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree are eligible for employment. Documentation of current enrollment is required.
