Student Temporary
Employment Program (STEP)
(Summer Jobs)
General
- Provides learning experience for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students
- Gain exposure to fields such as physical science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and administration
- Paid position
- Work during vacation breaks; if local, may also work during the year while going to school
Who Qualifies?
- Students enrolled in an accredited educational institution at least half-time
- The minimum age allowed for Federal employment is 16
Benefits
- Part-time or full-time earn annual and sick leave
- May become eligible for federal health and life insurance benefits after one year of continuous service
- Covered by the Social Security System
