The exhibition displayed newly acquired 19th- and 20th-century American, French, and British works from the Gallery's collection, including photographs by William Henry Fox Talbot, Julia Margaret Cameron, Charles Sheeler, and André Kertesz. Many of the photographs, including several promised gifts, had never before been shown at the National Gallery of Art.
