Mooring and Buoy Program

The EcoFOCI Program began mooring operations in 1985
as FOCI, deploying surface and subsurface moorings in support of
Fisheries-Oceanography research.

We continue to deploy moorings in the Gulf of Alaska, Aleutian Islands, and Bering sea in support of our Ecosystems Fisheries-Oceanography research.   In 2006 TAPS-8 instrumentation was deployed on our long-term M2 mooring to gather zooplankton abundance data on the Bering Sea shelf.  Data are sent daily from the mooring using satellite and irridium technology.
