MAGDALENA RANGER DISTRICT FIREWOOD PERMITS AVAILABLE AUGUST 1, 2008 THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 2009

MAGDALENA , NM – JULY 28, 2008 - The Magdalena Ranger District will begin offering personal use firewood permits on Friday, August 1, 2008. These permits are available for dead and down, dead standing piñon and juniper, and green standing trees. The trees must be 14 inches or less in diameter, measured at the base of the tree. The minimum sale is $20.00 for 2 cords of firewood; the maximum is 8 cords. The permit is good for 60 days. Certain areas are closed to cutting. Permits are available at the Magdalena Ranger District office, Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 12:30 p.m. till 4:30 p.m.
