Size Recertification Regulations 

On November 15, 2006, SBA published a final rule in the Federal Register establishing periodic recertification of compliance with small business size standards on long-term contracts, with an effective date of June 30, 2007. A counterpart Federal Acquisition Regulation Change was published in the Federal Register on July 5, 2007, with an effective date June 30, 2007.  For long-term contracts (more than five years duration), these regulations provide for recertification of compliance with size standards at the end of five years, and prior to exercise of any options thereafter. For short-term contracts (not more than five years duration) changes require recertification in the event of merger, acquisition, or novation.
