The goal of the Realtime Environmental Coastal Observation Network (RECON) project is to design a low cost coastal buoy network capable of seabed to sea-surface observations. Each station can interface in-situ sensors from meteorological to oceanographical measurements of chemical, biological, and physical parameters. The system is designed to allow controlled access to multi-institutional users through both surface and sub-surface sensor guest port interfaces. The network is currently providing environmental data to state, federal, and university researchers, educators, and resource managers.
