Program
Updated
05/07/2008
These maps show the amounts distributed to Natural Resources Conservation
Service (NRCS) State offices for operating seven conservation programs in fiscal
year 2007: Conservation Technical Assistance Program, Soil Survey Program, Snow
Survey and Water Forecasting Program, Plant Materials Program, Watershed Surveys
and Planning, Watershed
Rehabilitation Program, Agricultural Management Assistance and Resource Conservation and Development Program. The
Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Program was not funded this fiscal
year.
These programs were funded through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2005.
Through these programs, the Natural Resources Conservation Service is capable of
accomplishing its mission of providing leadership in a partnership effort to
help people conserve, maintain, and improve our natural resources and
environment.

This map shows the amounts distributed to NRCS State offices for
operating the Snow Survey and Water Forecasting Program in fiscal year
2007. This program provides mountain snowpack data and streamflow
forecasts for the western United States. Common applications of snow
survey products include water supply management, flood control, climate
modeling, recreation, and conservation planning.

This map shows the amounts distributed to NRCS State offices for
operating the Plant Materials Program in fiscal year 2007. This program
provides native plants that can help solve natural resource problems.
Beneficial uses for which plant material may be developed include
biomass production, carbon sequestration, erosion reduction, wetland
restoration, water quality improvement, streambank and riparian area
protection, coastal dune stabilization, and other special conservation
treatment needs.

This map shows the amounts distributed to NRCS State offices for
operating the Agricultural Management Assistance in
fiscal year 2007. This program provides cost share assistance to agricultural producers to voluntarily address
issues such as water management, water quality, and erosion control by
incorporating conservation into their farming operations. Producers may
construct or improve water management structures or irrigation structures; plant
trees for windbreaks or to improve water quality; and mitigate risk through
production diversification or resource conservation practices, including soil
erosion control, integrated pest management, or transition to organic farming.
