Earth's atmosphere is a fluid in motion, constantly working towards equilibrium by attempting to smooth out temperature irregularities between the poles and the equator. Thunderstorms, tornadoes, flash floods, hurricanes, typhoons, winter storms and nor'easters are all powerful examples of how the atmosphere attempts to reach that balance. All to often severe storms come with a price, as severe storms worldwide have caused billion dollar losses.
