THE BASICS:

Thanks for taking the time to review our privacy policy. Our basic stance on your privacy is: We collect no personal information or Privacy Act information about you when you visit the IPNF website, unless you choose to provide that information to us (meaning you have typed it into a form on our site).

AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED INFORMATION:

If you do nothing during your visit but browse our site, read pages, or download files, limited statistics on the pages you view will be generated by the www.fs.fed.us webserver's software and by a private website tracking service. This information DOES NOT identify you personally, rather it identifies for us which files are being sent out, at what date and time, and to which IP addresses they are going to. It also identifies the referring URL (the page you linked from), the type of browser you used, and your screen resolution. We use this information to optimize our site and our server to better suit the public need. Our site does not utilize cookies.

The data logs containing this infomation are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration General Schedule 20.

IF YOU SEND US PERSONAL INFORMATION:

If you use either our questions or comments systems or contact us via email, and include personal information such as name or email address, that information is used primarily to respond to you. We are required to save documents, including E-mail, under the Federal Records Act, therefore information you submit may be shared internally.

If you are commenting on a national forest management issue through this site, your comments and personally identifying information may be made public pursuant to established regulation; for example, 36 CFR 215.6 .
