DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z AUGUST 29, 2008
Impacts of Western Fires: Moderately dense smoke covered central Idaho, southern South Dakota and a large portion of Nebraska. Thick smoke was observed in central Nebraska. Light smoke shrouded portions of Idaho, Montana, Minnesota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. The East Slide Rock Ridge, South Barker, Gunbarrel, and Dunn Mtn. Assist fires were the primary sources of these areas of smoke. Light to moderate smoke was observed emanating from the Lonesome Complex in Oregon.
