DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0000Z November 27, 2007
California: The narrow plume of light smoke from a fire near Yosemite West close to the western border of Yosemite National Park expanded slightly during the day as it spread to the south-southeast reaching the border with Madera county. Residual light smoke from the fire in Malibu in southern California was seen drifting to the west-southwest over the open Pacific Ocean just west of the Channel Islands. Additional very thin possible residual smoke was also observed late in the afternoon with the favorable low sun angle over San Luis Obispo County moving to the southwest over the Pacific Ocean. Texas: A moderately dense to perhaps locally dense smoke plume developed during the afternoon from a fire in Refugio County of southeastern Texas. The plume moved to the southeast across coastal areas of Aransas County and eventually over the Gulf of Mexico. JS
