Representatives Sought for Royalty Committee
DENVER
– The
Director of the Minerals Management Service (MMS) announced today
that nominations are being sought for three representatives from the
public-at-large to serve on the Department of the Interior’s Royalty
Policy Committee (RPC).
The nominations,
due by August 15, 2008, are for representatives from the general
public who have a knowledge and interest in royalty issues.
Representatives serve a three-year term on the RPC and receive
travel expenses when participating in meetings, but are not
compensated for their membership.
The RPC provides
advice to the Secretary of the Interior on issues related to royalty
management and other mineral-related policies and meets at least
once a year at the request of the Director of the MMS. Committee
members include representatives of states that receive mineral
royalty revenues from Federal leases; representatives of American
Indian Tribes and individual Indian mineral owners; representatives
from industry; and up to three members who represent the
public-at-large. Representatives of certain Federal agencies also
serve as ex-officio, nonvoting members. Additional information about
