| CRADAs, Patents, and Licenses |

| Under Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs), several parties agree to collaborate on a specific research project. No money changes hands with this type of agreement. NETL actively seeks opportunities to partner with the private sector and academia to develop and commercialize new energy and environmental technologies using CRADAs. |
Generally, the first step in forming a CRADA is an expression of interest to NETL by the potential private-sector participant. |

Tax Credit Certification Questions |

The Department of Energy's National Energy
Technology Laboratory (NETL) is collaborating with the Internal Revenue
Service (IRS) to evaluate applications for Tax Credits under Section
1307 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, per instructions in the Treasury
