1918 - CGC Seneca’s crew attempted to bring the torpedoed British collier Wellington into Brest, France. Eleven of Seneca‘s crew, sent as a boarding party aboard the collier, were lost when Wellington foundered in a gale on 16 September 1918.

Members of MSST Boston examine tanks which broke away durting Hurricane Ike and were pinned against a barge in Houston's shipping channel. Search and rescue remained a priority in the second day after the storm, but assessment patrols of the channel also began in order to identify hazards and obstructions, and ensure the channel reopens as quickly as possible.
