NOAA FISHERIES UNVEILS NEW BOOK ON AMERICAN FISHING

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries), an office within the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), announces the publication of Neptune’s Table: A View of America’s Ocean Fisheries. The 220 page hard-cover book showcases the nation’s varied marine fisheries and the people who depend upon them.

Neptune’s Table is an illustrative history containing more than 550 color photographs depicting the activities and lifestyles of commercial and recreational fishermen around the nation. The photographs, historic drawings, original illustrations and famous American paintings portrays U.S. fisheries over a period of great change. It also describes the serious issues facing fisheries managers and fishermen alike: overfishing, limited access, bycatch, competition and coastal habitat loss.

The book is available at the Government Printing Office (Stock No. 003-020-00175-1) for $37.00. Contact :
