Child Care Health Program
Class and Event Schedule

The Child Care Health Program is a STARS (Washington State Training and Registry System) approved agency. Classes marked with "STARS" meet the 10-hour continuing education credit requirement for child care providers.

How to register for classes


Special registration information for new on-line Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/AIDS class!

Register electronically for the online Bloodborne Pathogens class by clicking on the class name below and then clicking on the registration link. Please do not mail your registration for the online Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/AIDS class.


For all other classes, please do the following:
1. Click here to download the registration form. Print the form out and fill in the details. The form and your payment must reach us at least 1 week prior to the class you wish to attend.
2.

Make checks payable to: SKCDPH and return the registration form along with your payment to:

About the 2008 class fees

Our goal is to provide quality training for child care providers at a reasonable cost. Effective January 1, 2008 our class fees are:

  • Pediatric First Aid (participants receive a Pediatric First Aid Card from the National Safety Council and a first aid book), $35

  • Online Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/AIDS Class, $25

  • Classroom Bloodborne Pathogens/HIV/AIDS Class, $20

  • Food Safety in Child Care/Food Handler Card Class
    • Option 1: Receive 1.5 STARS credits and a Food Handler Card, $20
    • Option 2: Receive a Food Handler Card only, $10

  • All other classes, $10 per person per hour

Occasionally we are able to obtain grant support that allows us to offer Saturday conferences at reduced fees. Fees will be stated in the registration flyer for each conference.

Cancellation policy

  • If we cancel a class (due to low enrollment, snow, or other reason) you may choose between receiving a refund or a credit toward another class.

  • If you register for a class and find you cannot attend, please notify us at 206-296-2770 at least 48 hours before the class. We will allow you to credit your registration fee towards another class.

Computer monitorNeed a Bloodborne Pathogens class at a convenient time and location?

How about a class as close as your home or work computer that you can take anytime?

The Child Care Health Program of Public Health – Seattle & King County is partnering with the Puget Sound Educational Service District’s Early Learning Outreach Program to offer a new online HIV/AIDS/Bloodborne Pathogens class for child care providers. This new online class will provide the opportunity to take a class specifically designed for child care providers at a time and place convenient to you. All that’s needed is a computer with Internet access.

The class costs $25 per person. Credit card or personal check payments are accepted. Please allow 3 days for credit card transactions and 10 days for personal check transactions. You will receive a notification e-mail when your transaction is complete and you can begin taking the course. To register click here.

STARS Scholarships are available!

Do you know that scholarships are available to child care providers to cover the cost of your STARS classes?

  • When you take STARS classes you can submit a "Reimbursement Application" and receive a scholarship to cover your classes.

  • Up to $100 per child care provider is available.

  • Please visit www.waeyc.org and click on "WA STARS" for more information.

STARS identification numbers required to get STARS credits!

starsAs you may know, the STARS Registry has changed the way it tracks the STARS credits you earn by attending approved classes and trainings. Child care providers must provide their STARS ID number in order to receive STARS credits. Social security numbers are no longer being accepted by the STARS registry. Bring your STARS ID number with you when you attend a class or training. If you do not yet have your STARS ID number you must complete and mail a "Provider Profile Form" to:
