Interactive Training On Line Interactive Training Products


Welcome to the Mine Safety and Health Administration's interactive training site. The products on this page are for online use. Some are intended to help operators comply with Federal regulations, while others are meant for miner training. We will be updating this site as new products are developed, so please check back often.


 Material Handling Safety
    This self-paced, interactive training program has been adapted from an extensive PowerPoint presentation. It includes manual and mechanical material handling and storage at surface mines, mills, and plants (both metal/nonmetal and coal).



    To order a CD containing this training material in other formats, primarily for classroom use, please complete the form. You may do so “on-screen”, print the form, then mail or fax it to us. Make certain to provide all the information requested in the form.

 Mine Health and Safety Simulation Exercises
    This program uses real-world examples taken from actual mine incidents. You will walk step-by-step through an actual accident and see what actions you should take.

    This program is anonymous; your answers are not recoded or documented. As a learning exercise, you may even want to select some answers you know are wrong, just to see why the experts think that action is wrong.

    The goal is to help prepare you to make the best decisions to help save lives, if you are ever involved in a similar incident.


 Hazard Communication (HazCom) Interactive Training Course
    The course was developed to provide you with guidelines for complying with the new HazCom rule.

    This course has 11 lessons. Each lesson covers a different topic related to the HazCom rule. The course can be completed in one sitting or one lesson at a time. To assist you develop your HazCom program, lesson 11 includes a template for your use in developing your own HazCom program.


 Job Task Analysis (JTA) Interactive Training Course
    Training Improves Safety

    Use this online tool to develop adaptable training that will improve your mine's production, safety, communication, and maintenance.

    This site is designed to assist you in developing and conducting greatly improved Task Training.


 Self-Contained Self-Rescuers (SCSR's) Interactive Training Course
 Surface Powered Haulage Safety (IG 56)
    This material is based on a classroom presentation developed by MSHA instructors. It is training material aimed at surface haulage accident prevention, and addresses several of the hazards that may arise in surface haulage operations at mines (both metal/nonmetal and coal).
