Safety Video
All Users are required to watch the Fermilab Safety Video,
"Now A Few Words About Safety," before obtaining an ID card.
ID Cards Each user at Fermilab must
register with the Users' Office and apply for an ID card in person. An ID number is
required in order to obtain a Fermilab computer account. All Users must come to the Users Office
to complete the forms and obtain a photo ID. The application form for a Visitor ID is available online: http://www.fnal.gov/pub/forphysicists/users/vid.html.

Apply for Computing Privileges
In order to obtain computing privileges at Fermilab, you must have a valid Fermilab ID number.
If you are not on site, you may download the
application for a Visitor ID online, and
contact the Users' Office for more information.
All applicants must read and sign the Fermilab Policy on Computing.
Laboratory management requires Visitor IDs to be validated by the visitor's experiment or Division/Section.
Please note that the Visitor ID is not the same thing as an ID card. Your Visitor ID will only
give you access to Fermilab's computers. The Visitor ID will not give you access to the
Fermilab site. ID cards must be applyed for in person at the Users' Office.
Medical Insurance Users present at Fermilab are
required to have medical insurance coverage. A Certification of Medical
Insurance must be completed if you have insurance from your home institution.
If a user needs to purchase insurance for his/her stay at Fermilab, the Users'
Office has applications for short-term medical insurance and will help complete
the forms and send them to the insurance company.
Rental Cars Rental cars for short or long term
rental are available through the Users' Office. You can reserve a car by
calling the office (630) 840-3111, or send e-mail to

On-site Accommodations Fermilab has on-site
accommodations located in the Fermilab Village for visiting experimenters. In
addition to apartments and houses reserved for long-term residents,
dormitory-type rooms are available at the rate of $14.00 to $19.00 per night.
Each room has a single bed and telephone, with central shower/bath facilities,
kitchens, and lounge areas located within each dormitory. Reservations for
rooms may be made through the Housing Office, located in Aspen East, at
630-840-3777 or by e-mail at housing@fnal.gov.
Off-site Accommodations In addition to the on-site
Fermilab Housing, there are a number of hotels located near Fermilab.
Reservations should be made directly with the hotel of your choice.

Local Restaurants
Whether you want to drive five minutes or half a hour, there are plenty
of restaurants to choose from near Fermilab. Here is a list of local

Users Executive Committee (UEC) The
Users'
Executive Committee represents the Fermilab User Community.
Graduate Student Association (GSA) The
GSA at Fermilab
organizes classes, tours and other types of activities.
NALWO
The Fermi National Accelerator Women's Organization welcomes
all women associated with Fermilab. They offer a variety
of cultural and social activities, English classes and a co-operative
playgroup on site. Visiting women and newcomers are especially encouraged
to join NALWO activities.
Users' Center The Users' Center is a place for
people to socialize after work. It is located at 2 Che Che Pinqua in the
Fermilab Village and is open Monday through Friday 5 p.m. till 12:00 midnight.
The Users' Center has a bar, lounge area with a fireplace, a game room with
pool and ping pong tables, a room with a TV and VCR and a piano room. For
information about the Users Center, contact the Users Office.
Chez Leon The
Chez
Leon restaurant located in the User Center Building is open for lunch on
Wednesday and dinner on Thursday. For information about Chez Leon contact the
Accommodations Office or call (630) 840-4598.
Social Security Administration Many users will need
to apply for a social security number. Information, application and a map to
the Social Security Administration Office can be obtained from the Users'
Office. The Application for a Social Security Card (SS-5) can be found at

Illinois Secretary of State (Driver's License) If
you need to apply for an Illinois Driver's License, you can get a copy of the
Rules of the Road and a map to the local facility from the Users Office or at
