Pre-launch activities include:
  • landing site selection

    The final landing site selection for Mars Science Laboratory is planned for June 2009.
  • assembly and testing

    Engineers are testing the Mars Science Laboratory rover in the field during 2007 and 2008.
  • shipping the spacecraft to the Cape

    Prior to launch, Mars Science Laboratory will be transported to Cape Canaveral, Florida for its journey to Mars.
