This is such an important activity! Why would we not want to use every tool that the USG has to help us in times of dire need?

We, as citizens, must demand our Congress to do what is right - both in intelligence oversight and in providing ALL needed resources to protect our country.

Not having this capability for our people is just so wrong.

An NAO will be helpful in ensuring future revenue streams for the contractors that build these very expensive surveilance systems, but I don't expect anyone will ever be able to show proportionate benefit to security.

The National Audit Office scrutinises public spending on behalf of Parliament. We are totally independent of Government. The NAO is headed by the Comptroller and Auditor General, Tim Burr.

We audit the accounts of all central government departments and agencies, as well as a wide range of other public bodies, and report to Parliament on the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which they have used public money. Our work saves the taxpayer millions of pounds every year.
