Alpha Chi Sigma
Washington Professional Chapter
Objects of the fraternity:
To bind its members with a tie of true and lasting friendship.
To strive for the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as
a profession.
To aid its members by every honorable means in the attainment of
their ambitions as chemists throughout their mortal lives.
Alpha Chi Sigma is the only national fraternity of members of the
chemical profession serving the professional interests of its more
than 30,000 members irrespective of academic degree, gender, or other
distinctions. The Washington Professional Chapter serves those members
living or visiting in Washington, D.C. or the surrounding national
capital area in suburban Maryland and Virginia.

- Monthly Meetings throughout the academic year from
September through May (except December) usually on the third Wednesday
of each month.

- Special Events
- The annual shrimp feast held the third or fourth (usually)
weekend of September
- The annual Tetra Chapter Banquet held in November each year is
hosted on a rotating basis by the the four fraternity chapters
located in the national capital area: Washington Professional and
three collegiate chapters:
Alpha Pi
at George Washington University,
Alpha Rho
at the University of Maryland, and Chesapeake Bay Professional
Chapter. Featured is a prominent speaker from the chemical
profession.
- The annual awards banquet, joint with the American Institute of
Chemists, is held in early May each year. It honors the recipient of
the Chapter's annual Professional Service Award
(available in PDF format)
and winners of
AIC's annual student awards given to ranking
chemistry students at some 35 colleges and universities in the
national capital area.
