OVC is accepting nominations for the 2009 National Crime Victims' Service Awards. The submission deadlines are approaching fast: October 3 for submissions sent by mail and October 10 for submissions using the online nomination form. The winners will be honored at a ceremony on April 24, 2009, in a prelude to the 2009 National Crime Victims' Rights Week—25 Years of Rebuilding Lives: Celebrating the Victims of Crime Act, April 26–May 2, 2009.

On September 24, 2008, at 2 p.m. ET, OVC will sponsor an OVC Web Forum Guest Host Session on responding to sexual violence on campus with S. Daniel Carter, Senior Vice President of Securities on Campus, Inc., and Margaret Mikkelsen, Executive Director of Students Active for Ending Rape (SAFER).
OVC Director Gillis copresented the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) Crime Victim Services Award during the NSA's 2008 annual conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. The East Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Sheriff's Office received the award for “outstanding achievement by a Sheriff's Office in support of victims.”

A Remembrance Ceremony
