Prevalence refers to the proportion or percentage of the sample reporting use on 1 or more occasions in a given time interval—e.g., lifetime, past 12 months, or past 30 days. The prevalence of daily use usually refers to use on 20 or more occasions in the past 30 days. Five or more in the past 2 weeks, or "binge drinking," refers to 5 or more drinks in a row during the prior 2-week interval.
