Martha Grimes is the New York Times best-selling author of 19 Richard Jury mysteries, five novels, a book of poetry and a book of short stories. After having her first poem published in Send Bygraves, she turned from poetry to mystery novels. In 1981 she published her first mystery, titled The Man with a Load of Mischief. Her most recent book is the semi-autobiographical novel Belle Ruin (Viking, 2005). A long-time Anglophile, Grimes spends her time in Washington, D.C., and makes many side trips to England.
