PADGETT NAMED OSM ALBUQUERQUE FIELD OFFICE DIRECTOR

Rick Seibel, Regional Director, of the Office of Surface Mining
Reclamation and Enforcement's (OSM) Western Regional Coordinating
Center today announced the appointment of Guy V. Padgett as
Director of OSM's field office in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Padgett, who will be in charge of OSM's activities in the coal
regions of New Mexico and Arizona, will also continue to serve as
Director of OSM's field office in Casper, Wyoming, a position he
has held since October of 1990.  

"OSM benefits greatly from Guy Padgett's professional expertise
and managerial experience," Seibel said.  "His appointment, which
became effective February 4, will give the Albuquerque Field
Office the same strong, dependable leadership the employees and
customers of our Casper office have come to rely upon."

Padgett began his government career in 1988 with OSM's Abandoned
Mine Land Division in Pittsburgh, PA.  Before joining OSM, he was
employed for 13 years by Consolidation Coal Company.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the
U.S. Merchant Marine, and a masters degree and Ph.D. from the
University of South Carolina.
