State, Local, and Regional Quality Award Information

Services Provided to State and Local Quality Award Programs
The State and Local Quality Award Programs are key stakeholders in the Baldrige National Quality Program. They provide potential award applicants and examiners, promote the use of the Criteria, and disseminate information regarding the Award process and concepts. BNQP supports the state and local programs with both products and services for use in their examiner training and award processes.

Products Provided to State and Local Quality Award Programs Include:
Electronic and printed program materials, e.g. Criteria, Getting Started, Issue Sheets, Award recipient profiles
Examiner, Senior Examiner, and other training materials. These include slides, facilitator notes, handouts, exercise instructions, training manuals, case studies, and the Examiner Handbook.
Award process documents, including the Award application forms and the Consensus and Site Visit Manuals for team leaders and examiners.

State and Local Programs can submit their requests for exhibit/bulk materials by completing the portable exhibit & materials request form and returning it to us by fax at 301-948-3716 or email at nqp@nist.gov .

 
BNQP Supports State and Local Operations by:
Designing and Implementing a state Quality Award, a 1992 report prepared for the National Governors’ Association and sponsored by NIST is provided to start up programs.
Referring to State and Local programs those examiner applicants who indicate an interest on their examiner application
Hosting and assisting in planning the annual State and Local Program Workshop each July and a mid year business meeting at Quest for Excellence
Providing teleconferencing for planning Regional Conferences and the State and Local Workshop
Inviting the director each state and local program to serve as a Baldrige examiner
Offering one complimentary registration at The Quest for Excellence in return for the use of the state and local program’s marketing mailing list
Recognizing state programs that have successfully encouraged state award recipients to pursue and receive the Baldrige National Quality Award
Referring inquiries re organizations using Baldrige to State and Local Award recipients
Providing BNQP staff as speakers at conferences and state and local award ceremonies
Co-hosting two Regional Conferences with 4 state and local programs, and sharing the returns with each program and the Foundation
Sharing aggregated data demonstrating the impact of state and local programs with conference attendees, other federal government agencies, and other parties
Providing referrals of both potential award applicants and examiners to state and local programs through customer service inquiries and/or as a result of contacts made at the Baldrige exhibit booth at conferences
Referencing state and local programs in BNQP documents including Getting Started, Why Apply, Why Baldrige, the Criteria booklets, the Award Ceremony program booklet, and the examiner/speakers slide set
Providing BNQP Outreach and Communications Team staff to support collaborative initiatives.
