| As a collaborative effort between NOAA and JAMSTEC, two moorings are currently deployed in the Kuroshio Extension Region. The Kuroshio Extension Observatory (KEO) mooring was deployed in the Kuroshio Extension recirculation gyre, at 144.5oE, 32.3oN on May 28, 2005. Please visit the KEO Website for more information. The Japanese Kuroshio Extension Observatory (JKEO) was deployed in the northern Kuroshio Extension region, at 146.5oE, 37.9oN on February 18, 2007.
