Cellular, Organ & Systems Pathobiology Branch

This branch plans, develops and administers a program of research and training grants, fellowships, contracts, and cooperative agreements that address the pathobiology and/or pathophysiology of environmental diseases/dysfunctions caused or exacerbated by environmental agents/stressors, emphasizing

  • mechanism-based research at the cellular, organ and system level to elucidate toxicity(ies) as they relate to age/time and susceptibility;
  • basic, transitional, and clinical research on the site/mechanism of action leading to but not including population-based research;

Provides management of the NIEHS training, career development and SBIR/STTR programs;

Assesses and evaluates progress and effectiveness of programs;

Provides professional liaison for the scientific review of the above activities;

Maintains mission-relevant liaison and coordinates activities with federal and non-federal organizations, institutions, associations, societies and scientists.
