Martha Montgomery, M.H.S., is a predoctoral fellow under the guidance of Freya Kamel, Ph.D. She is studying the effect of pesticide exposures on incident age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in pesticide applicators and their spouses in the Agricultural Health Study. This study is a continuation of findings depicting a relationship between pesticide exposures and prevalent cases of AMD both in pesticide applicators (Kamel et al., 2000) and their spouses (Kirrane et al., 2005).

Studies

  • Agricultural Health Study (AHS) (http://www.niehs.nih.gov//research/atniehs/labs/epi/studies/ahs/index.cfm)
The AHS explores potential causes of cancer and other diseases among farmers, their families and commercial pesticide applicators.
