What's New on EnergyFiles version 3.0

You will find many updates on EnergyFiles version 3.0. Where possible, URLs have remained the same for similar pages. Please take a moment to send your comments and suggestions.

The new EnergyFiles architecture takes advantage of the site's Subject Pathways to enhance information discovery:

• OSTI Resource Search – On each Subject Pathway page there is now the option of choosing to search only selected Office of Scientific and Technical (OSTI) resources and tools. If you know that your interests are limited to this collection, try this page first.
• Personal Search Page –You may now combine a distributed search within a specific subject with a broad, multidisciplinary search through a dynamically created Personal Search Page. The steps are as follows –



Ø	Choose a specific Subject Pathway from the Subject Index
Ø	Choose the Searchable Databases option
Ø	Select the subject specific database(s) you wish to search
Ø	When finished, scroll down and choose the Add Resources option
Ø	The multidisciplinary page is now displayed; select the multidisciplinary resources you wish to search
Ø	Choose Selection Complete
Ø	Your dynamically generated Personal Search Page will be displayed.On this page you may deselect resources, choose the number of resources to return from each collection, and enter your query. Your results will be returned on an integrated results page.



• Expanded Resources – The EnergyFiles Subject Pathways remain the same. However, the options within the Pathways have changed –



Ø	Searchable Databases – a distributed deep Web search across subject-specific databases and Web sites.This option was available as EnergyPortal in the previous version. Due to expanded resources, it is available now by subject
Ø	STI Resources and Tools – Links to resources and sites within each subject
Ø	Related Resources – links to professional organizations, conferences, funding information and reference material within each subject
